Addressing guests at the launch, last week, Skylake borehole drilling company Chief Executive Officer Tatenda Samukange explained how he started the borehole drilling business.

“I know I owe a lot of people answers as to how I started my business. So this is what happened. When I was 21 years old, I used to do car dealerships hustling in the streets and enjoyed the little money that I was getting. It was during this time I met a friend who was already in the borehole drilling industry. He used to engage me when doing his job and I found out that I was good in sales marketing for borehole drilling,” he said

“This is when I started having clients and hiring machines from someone who at times used to inconvenience me because it was his equipment after all. This gave me the power to work hard to have my own machines. After saving for 3 years in 2017 I managed to buy my first rack. It is since then everything started to flow and I thank God for that,” he added.

Speaking on his inspiration and direction of the company, the 26-year-old CEO hinted that the state-of-the-art office offices were just a tip of an iceberg as his main vision was now taking a growth trajectory where he wants the company to start creating more employment for different communities whose support have been the rock foundation of its success.

“The Harare office is the heart of an integral part for the borehole drilling company. With the official launch of our new state-of-the-art offices in Harare, the company is planning to offer an even wider range of quality drilling services to our existing and prospective clients” he said

“Although we have other branch offices in Mutare, our Harare office seeks to demonstrate our commitment to client service excellence, true collaboration and meaningful partnerships with our existing and prospective clients across the whole nation” he added

“A lot of young people are doing great things out there like what Tatenda has done. I am personally happy when young people succeed because age is not a barrier. It pains me that we have a lot of unfocused youths out there. It’s high time we have young people who are innovative,” said Mambondiani.

Skylake donated boreholes at Wilkins and Beatrice Infectious Hospitals when Covid 19 was at its peak in Zimbabwe and President Emmerson Mnangagwa applauded the young man for the kind gesture and national solidarity in the midst of crisis.
